Milton municipality wants to help you prevent basement flooding and sewer backup.
The sewer lateral pipe in the underground drain pipe that carries wastewater from your home to the municipal sanitary sewer system that directs water to the wastewater treatment plant. Over time, small cracks and leaks form and tree roots may infiltrate it, causing poor drainage and blockages. When damaged, wastewater will not flow away from your home and into the municipal sewers.
When the sewer lateral backs up, it can cause the water to flow back into your home, causing basement flooding and damage to your property. If your pipes are in substandard conditions, the Milton Basement Flooding Prevention Subsidy will refund your sewer lateral (pipe) lining and repair costs to make it easier for you to afford these important repairs.
How the Milton Basement Flooding Prevention Subsidy Works
The Milton Basement Flooding Prevention Subsidy will refund 50% of your sewer lateral repair and lining costs (up to a maximum of $2,000) if your sewer laterals are in substandard condition.
