Baxi Luna - Home Heating System
Types of heating systems
Homes use heating systems to provide heat and hot water. Heating systems range from systems that blow hot air through the ductwork, to those that pipe hot water through your floors. Heating systems include:
- Traditional furnace
- Electric heat pump
- Radiant baseboard heat
- Hydronic heat
- Space heater
Hot water (hydronic) heating systems
In hot water (hydronic) heating systems, water is heated in gas, oil, or electric boilers and circulated through pipes to convectors. A thermostat controls the activation of a water heater, and when signalled, the "circulator pump" in the boiler return line moves water through the pipes to the convectors, which in turn heat the rooms. When the circulator is not pumping, a "flow-control valve" stops the water flow in order to protect the convectors from overheating.
Modern boilers can give you up to $0.96 worth of heat for every fuel dollar, which increases efficiency by up to 20%. As such, modern boilers can save you a small fortune on utilities.
With more control over heating zones, you can manage the exact amount of heat required in each room, thus maximizing your family's comfort, while at the same time reducing your energy consumption.
Radiant heat is even, consistent, and comfortable - like the warmth from the sun on clear spring day.
Constant, Reliable Hot Water Supply
With an indirect water heater added, your hydronic system can deliver all the hot water you'll ever need.
Dust-free, Silent Operation
adiant heating means there are no fans blowing dust particles into your home. That's better for your health and that of your family, and it can even reduce household cleaning.
How does Baxi Luna Water Heating System Work?
Systems such as the Baxi Luna water heating system are also known as on-demand water heaters. It does not have a storage tank and it heats water only when hot wateris needed, thus avoiding stand-by heat loss through tank walls and water pipes.
A relatively new tankless technology, modern water heating systems are typically gas-fired with electronic ignitions and power exhausts. These functions make modern tankless water heaters more efficient than conventional tankless heaters. They can be connected to an external storage tank if necessary. The Baxi Luna HT system has Modulo (an extra energy saver) which is ideal for use in bigger homes or those that use many plumbing fixtures and hot water-using appliances.
